GPC Electronics have been awarded a contract to manufacture Siemens’ products to supply ISDN and other equipment to Telstra. The global strength of Siemens is demonstrated by its ability to configure world class products from its own manufacturing facilities with those of a local manufacturer to meet the specialised requirements of customers such as Telstra in Australia.

Siemens is looking to GPC Electronics to maintain existing high levels of customer service whilst improving competitiveness. GPC Electronics’ own ability to adapt to its customers’ needs and take responsibility for the supply of its customers’ products, has been recognised by Siemens.

The Siemen’s contract is testimony to GPC’s achievement in taking the management of the board loading supply chain to a new level, surpassing the exacting quality and completion time requirements of major world class companies in configuring new products.

GPC Electronics’ strategy of being ready and able to do the ‘impossible’ has been implemented on the basis of the company’s investment in technology and people.

GPC Electronics invest more than $5 million in new technology annually, including the establishment of the most flexible high capacity SMT plant in Australia featuring the only in line 3D X-ray machine in the region.

It also includes the development of broad system test and temperature cycling capabilities, the implementation of IT systems such as an ERP system, and the development of operations at numerous sites in Australia and New Zealand.

GPC Electronics’ investment in people is highlighted by the allocation of 18,000 hours to staff training last year. The training was conducted by TAFE (Technical and Further Education) on site during morning and afternoon shifts and was supplemented by specialised technical training.

The growing complexity and technical demands of customer requirements in terms of capacity and capability are being met through the company’s ongoing commitment to investments in human skills and advanced technologies. This is evident in all areas of the supply chain, from planning and purchasing to finished product testing and reliability of delivery.
