April 2001 - Wireless GPC Electronics

GPC Electronics has supplied DMC Stratex Networks’ New Zealand manufacturing operation with over 6000 digital microwave radios in a two year contract estimated to be worth around $US34 million.

DMC originally contracted GPC Electronics as part of a supply chain improvement program. “We needed to improve quality and logistics, and were looking for a more professional manufacturing operation,” Mark Powell, VP Manufacturing Operations, DMC Stratex Networks, said.

“We identified GPC Electronics as an organisation that would take us to the next level, and placed the major contract for our DXR 700 and DXR 200 radios with them."

GPC Electronics’ capabilities in manufacturing and logistics and understanding of advanced wireless technology have been key factors in the company’s success in meeting DMC’s requirements.

“The big challenge in producing the radios has been working with DMC to ensure material availability while minimising inventory and still meeting market demand through fast cycle manufacturing,” Terry Barrett, Project Manager, GPC Electronics, said. “We’re looking forward to assisting DMC to introduce the new versions of their products quickly into market.”
