4RF Communications based in Wellington, New Zealand, a supplier of high-performance point-to-point wireless technologies for rural, private network and mobile radio telecommunications has selected GPC Electronics (NZ) as its manufacturing partner.
4RF's first product development, the Aprisa™ radio, is manufactured by GPC Electronics (NZ) at its Christchurch-based facility. The digital radio uses microwave technologies to deliver high-speed Internet, voice and data transport in rural telephony and low capacity mobile radio and cellular base station linking.
GPC Electronics (NZ) General Manager, Murray Lynn said, "GPC Electronics has years of experience in building technically complex microwave radios. We also have to be very flexible in managing a large number of configurations possibities and short order lead times."
The strength of this business relationship is due to effective and open communications between the two organisations, resulting in joint and immediate manufacturing solutions.
4RF is now exporting Aprisa™ units to 15 countries throughout the world. Sales of the radios to Western and Eastern Europe, South Africa, India, Asia, the Middle East, Australia and the Pacific contributed 77% to 4RF revenues this year.
Major projects included the rollout of high-speed Internet and telephone services to more than 37 islands in the Fijian archipelago. With the Fijian economy heavily reliant upon tourism, the provision of reliable Internet and data access in the more than US$1 million deal is important to the development of the tourism infrastructure. 4RF also supplied radio links for the expansion of telephony services in Thailand extending fixed line services into rural and provincial areas.
The Aprisa™ radio was certified an Approved Network Solution by Christchurch-based Tait Electronics for deployment within their networks. 4RF and Tait subsequently signed a worldwide OEM agreement for the Aprisa™ and registered sales this year to a New Zealand emergency services network.
