Sydney - April 28, 2004

GPC Electronics won the Best SMB Implementation category, at the annual SAP Partner-Customer Awards of Excellence today.

GPC Electronics has been expanding globally and exports most of its production to North America, Asia and Europe. The company worked with IBM Business Consulting Services to implement mySAP as a fully integrated platform to support its growth, allow greater flexibility and integrate better with its global customer base. GPC Electronic’s push into the global market has highlighted the need for information to be available 24x7 to its customers.

The mySAP system will allow GPC Electronics to add value to its customers and assist them to add value to their customers. Areas such as Supply Chain Management and B2B e-commerce will give competitive advantages in the market.

The SAP Partner-Customer Awards of Excellence this year had 14 award categories. The winners included some of Australia's and New Zealand's leading small and large companies, and represent both the public and private sectors.
Winners of other categories included British American Tobacco, Telstra Corporation Limited, Coles Myer Limited, BHP Billiton Iron Ore, Telecom New Zealand and the Department of Family and Community Services.

"Through the Partner-Customer Awards of Excellence, we aim to recognise the high level of achievement and innovation of our customers IT implementations which leads to successful business outcomes," said Geraldine McBride, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of SAP ANZ.

"The submissions to this year's awards were of a very high standard, but ultimately the winners were selected because in addition to coming in on time and within budget, the project results were tightly integrated with the overall strategic objectives of each business.

"Each of the winning submissions commenced new projects and investments in technology in a climate when IT investments were difficult to justify, and their successes indicate the tenacity and confidence of the individual businesses under challenging market conditions," said Rob Durie, Chief Executive, AIIA.

"The winning companies showed that such projects are not just about a successful IT implementation, but about successful business outcomes."

The judging panel consisted of: Rob Durie, Chief Executive, Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA); Peter Hind, Program Manager of InTEP Forums at IDC; and was overseen by John Lombard, Director of SAP Professional Services for ANZ.

The SAP Partner-Customer Awards of Excellence was introduced in 2001 to recognise and reward innovation and successful implementations of mySAP solutions. The awards are conducted on an annual basis.
